Landlord/Tenant Info
The South Seattle Crime Prevention Council (SSCPC) feels that both responsible property management and responsible tenancy (on the part of renters) are important factors in the safety of our neighborhoods. Both landlords and tenants should know their rights and obligations; to this end, we provide the following links to various websites which offer information about landlord-tenant matters:
The Washington State Legislature's web page on the Residential Landlord-Tenant Act (Chapter 59.18 RCW) provides complete information about definitions, rights, responsibilities, and remedies (in disputes) for landlord-tenant issues
(link to http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW; then select "Title 59").
The Tenants Union of Washington State's website (http://www.tenantsunion.org) offers news and information geared toward tenants yet useful for landlords as well.
The link www.seattle.gov/dpd/codesrules/commonquestions/rentalhousingproblems/default.htm#translated yields a visit to the City of Seattle's Department of Planning and Development's webpage "Renting in Seattle," which offers tenant information available in several languages.
