Community Beautification
Community beautification focuses neighbors and communities on the practicable goal of displaying pride in the physical appearance of neighborhoods. Keeping the parks, sidewalks, and streets we all share in common clean and free of litter is about more than how to make things look pretty; as important, community beautification also involves making shared public spaces safer. A tidy, clutter- and litter-free park tends to be safer for children; people walking sidewalks free of debris may not trip as often while jogging or walking. Additionally, beautifying one's community, one's neighborhood, increases property values and attracts business. According to the website Useful Community Development, "[r]esearch shows that beauty is one of the top three factors in creating community attachment, or loyalty, to your particular town or city."
